Queen given flowers from Tesco Express during Ilford visit
A boy scout who gave a bunch of flowers that he had bought from Tesco Express to the Queen said that he felt “startled” and “surprised”. 12 year old Jacob Coy was one of thousands who lined the streets of Ilford for the Queen’s visit.

Everyone had the time of their lives as they danced the night away with a Freddie Mercury tribute act and Mitch Winehouse for the 20th anniversary of a Redbridge charity. Mr Winehouse is a patron of the Hopes and Dreams charity and brought along his 16 piece band to entertain the 250 guests who were at the event at the Prince Regent Hotel, Manor Road, Woodford Green.

The Kenneth More Theatre (KMT), Ilford, is hosting its 37th pantomime: ″Jack and the Beanstalk″. Ilford has had an annual pantomime since the tradition started in 1975, with ″Dick Whittington″. Until recently the shows were written by theatre manager Vivyan Ellacott with help from his brother, Nigel. However, it’s all changed in 2011 as Steven Day, the present manager, has taken over from Vivyan.

There will be a roadshow launched in Ilford, to encourage people aged over 50 in the area to get fitter and healthier. The roadshow, which will be based in the Stratford Centre is part of the Go London campaign, and come just a year before London will be full of sports enthusiasts for the 2012 Olympics in the capital.
