Fundraising Widow Honoured

Cheryl Barnacle, from Stockingford Nuneaton has been awarded the title of ‘Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year 2011’ by Cancer Research UK. Since losing her husband Clive to the disease in 2007 she has put her energies into raising thousands of pounds towards helping prevent others from going through the same pain.

Construction Workers’ Charity Skydive

A group of construction workers helping to renovate the RNIB Pears Centre, formerly the RNIB Rushton School and Children’s Home near Bedworth, decided to raise funds for the organisation by throwing themselves out of a plane. They thought that doing a tandem skydive would be a great way to raise some much needed money for the school. Gran Honours Fusiliers

Nuneaton grandmother Cheryl Hartshorn, along with a group of other cyclists, has completed a mammoth 320-mile bike ride from Nuneaton to Normandy. Her aim was to honour those who died in the D-Day Landings, the largest invasion in history, in June 1944.

Nuneaton Museum Gets Writer in Residence

Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery has been awarded a grant of £7,665 by the National Lottery through Arts Council England for a Writer in Residence project at the museum. Support for the project has also been provided by Coventry University, and includes a digital diary, a new gallery display, live performances in Nuneaton town and creative writing workshops and talks.
