£12k donation to St Luke’s Hospice from law firm

A group of generous solicitors in Plymouth have raised nearly £12,000 for St Luke’s Hospice.

Nash & Co Solicitors chose the Turnchapel-based good cause as their charity for 2012 and raised an impressive £11,867.69 through a range of events including a sponsored walk, an auction and a raffle.

The city law firm has also been promoting St Luke’s “Make a Will Week”, where they will amend wills in exchange for a contribution towards the charity.

St Luke’s Hospice has been providing care terminally ill patients in the area for the past 30 years. The hospice also supports families to ensure that patients live out their final days with dignity.

Lorna Baker, corporate fundraiser for St Luke’s Hospice, said: “This is a fantastic donation from Nash & Co Solicitors and I would like to thank them for their amazing fundraising efforts over the past 12 months.

“It costs over £6million a year to run the hospice and it is thanks to support such as this that we are able to provide the free care that we do to people at the end of their lives from across Plymouth, South West Devon and East Cornwall.”

Nash & Co senior partner, Guy Walker, said: “I am personally very proud of the contributions our employees have made towards this tremendous total.

“We have not only raised a significant sum for a much-loved local charity, but have also had a lot of fun along the way with colleagues and friends.”
