Swansea solicitor John Collins has been sworn in at the High Court in Bristol as a District Judge.
Mr Collins will now sit on the Civil and Family jurisdiction court at Torquay County Court.
After graduating with a degree in politics and law from Aberystwyth University in 1977, Mr Collins qualified as a solicitor in 1980. He founded Collins & Partners, (now JCP Solicitors LLP) in 1990 and it has grown to be a top 250 UK practice and the largest Welsh firm outside Cardiff.

He said: “This is an immense honour and the culmination of my legal career,” he said.
“I am very much looking forward to the challenge of my new role and will enjoy working with the staff to deliver efficient and effective justice in the South West.”
