Models brought a bit of glamour to weekend shopping when they paraded down a catwalk in the city centre. The catwalk was set up in Princess Way in Swansea during a weekend in April for a fashion show to take place.
The aim of the event was to encourage more shoppers into the city centre and show off some of the fashions on offer in its stores. It is the first time an event of its kind has been held.
The show was organised by Swansea Council, The Evening Post and Swansea Bid (Business Improvement District).
Russell Greenslade, chief executive of Swansea Bid, said: “The fashion show was tremendously successful and proved a hit with both traders and shoppers.
“We worked closely alongside the Evening Post and council staff in the city centre management offices to arrange and promote the event, and this shows what can be achieved when we work in such close partnership.
“A number of other varied events are planned for the rest of the year in the city centre. This will help improve the visitor experience for shoppers and attract more footfall for traders.”
Items on the catwalk were from a selection of businesses, including some from Swansea Market. They included outfits for men, women and children and there was even some swimwear being modelled.
Daniel Jones, Swansea city centre manager, said: “City centres nowadays are not just about shopping. They’ve become a visitor experience too, and that’s why events of this nature are so important.”
