Plans for dental surgery are rejected

A Swansea dentist has had his dental surgery plan turned down due to objections.
The plans, which were for a new dental surgery in Clydach, have been turned down.

Dr Ian Smillie, who already runs a dental surgery on Vardre Road, submitted the application to Swansea Council outlining plans for a surgery on land at the rear of Vardre Road, near to the community centre.

However the proposal divided residents.  Some said the proposed new building was too big, and too near to neighbouring properties, who raised concerns about a loss of privacy.  And the loss of trees that screen the village health centre was also put forward as a concern.

Two petitions objected to the scheme, with a total of 149 signatures, while another, with almost 400 names, supported the plans.
