One of the leading garages in Coventry, Independent Automotive UK, has just joined a national network that promises to provide ‘female-friendly’ customer service. The garage is the only car-serving business in the city that has become part of the Foxy Choice network of 700 garages who are working to improve the customer care for women car owners.

Student speed demons are getting their race cars out of their garages in Coventry to take part in a contest. Coventry University’s Phoenix Racing are going to race more than 130 teams from rival universities at Silverstone.

Lillington Job Club to help get people back to work

An organisation in Leamington Spa, near Coventry, is helping to support jobseekers and get them back to work. Based at the Brunswick Healthy Living Centre in Old Town, the Brunswick Employment Club has been established for two years and has gone from strength to strength. The venture has been so successful that a second club has opened in Lillington.

Tax breaks considered for ‘Granny flat’

New plans being considered by the Government could offer tax breaks to people who have “granny flats” at their homes. Eric Pickles, the Communities Secretary, said that he wants to get scrap the extra council tax that is payable under current rules for people who have live-in annexes. He said that the rules are “fundamentally unfair”.
