One of the leading garages in Coventry, Independent Automotive UK, has just joined a national network that promises to provide ‘female-friendly’ customer service.
The garage is the only car-serving business in the city that has become part of the Foxy Choice network of 700 garages who are working to improve the customer care for women car owners.
The Foxy Choice organisation was established to help women who feel uncomfortable at male-dominated garages. Many women admitted to feeling vulnerable, ‘talked down to’ and ‘ripped off’ when they go to a garage.
Independent Automotive UK has signed a pledge that states that they will never ‘overcharge, patronise or sell women anything they don’t need or want to buy’.
They have also appointed Amie Jenkins as a female business ambassador. She will work to represent women’s interests within the firm.
Director of Independent Automotive UK Andy Fox, who launched the garage three years ago, said: “As one of the top ten garages in the UK it’s our responsibility to lead from the front.
“There is absolutely no room in a modern, forward-thinking business for any form of patronising attitude towards women, either customers or staff.”
