The Military Wives have already been number one in the music charts and now they are set to perform at Warwick Castle.
The choir is made up of wives and girlfriends of members of the military and was formed by Gareth Malone for the BBC series The Choir. The will be headlining the Warwick Castle Summer Proms on 14th July.
Many of the members have said that the choir has kept them smiling through some very hard times.
Both their first single and debut album went to number one in the UK charts.
Hayley Bowle, who is an original member of the choir, said: “We are all so excited to be performing at Warwick Castle’s Summer Proms, to be able to perform live is always an incredible experience for us all – its just spine tingling.”
The Warwick Castle event will be held to raise money for the SAAFA and The Royal British Legion.
Co-founder of The Military Wives Choirs Foundation, Nicky Clarke, said: “It is music which gives us strength, hope, courage, support, laughter and friendship, often when it is most needed.
“The Military Wives Choirs Foundation is being established to roll out choirs to all military bases so that women in the military community can join a choir immediately on posting, and benefit from the fun, friendship and support being part of such a group brings.
“At the time of writing there are more than 35 choirs at varying stages of development, not just in the UK but in bases in Germany and Cyprus.”
The Voice’s Jessie J will also be performing at the castle on the 13th July.
Rachel Deighton, for Warwick Castle, said the Summer Proms will be a fun filled event for all of the family: “Enjoy a sublime summer’s evening of classical music in the stunning grounds of Warwick Castle.
