Grange Moor artist Jim Bond is making his Huddersfield Art Gallery debut after having some of his sculptures displayed in some of the world’s best galleries.
Jim’s work has recently been exhibited at the British Art Now exhibition at London’s prestigious Saatchi gallery as well as the Royal Scottish Academy and the prestigious Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Although he has now been a sculptor for over twenty years, Jim has never had his work displayed in his home town of Huddersfield.
He showed his work as part of the Huddersfield Christmas Art Market at Huddersfield Art Gallery where around 50 artists exhibited and sold their work. His sculptures will stay on display until early 2012.
Jim said: “It is the first time I’ve had work in the gallery. I’ve been trying for years and approached them but I’ve never managed to get work in there even though I’m exhibiting abroad and in London. It’s nice to finally do it because it’s my hometown and a place I’d like to exhibit.”
Jim’s sculptures use metal to create images of the human body.
“I am inspired by the human form and the struggles to survive really. That is the essence of what I do and it grows from there. I think the more you work at it the more the ideas come,” said Jim.
