Hide And Seek Record Attempt

A group of young people are hoping to break the world record for the biggest game of hide and seek.

The young people, who attend the Young Batley Centre, were hoping people from all over the Kirklees area would turn up for the record-breaking attempt in July. Kirklees Council’s Young People’s Service and the Friends of Beaumont Park were supporting the organisers in their attempt.

They were hoping around 1,000 people would turn up to Beaumont Park, Huddersfield, to play the gigantic game of hide and seek. They provided a programme of events and entertainment for the whole family during the day as well. People of all ages and all backgrounds were invited to go along to the attempt to make history.

Kerrie Clark, an Area Youth Worker who is based at the Young Batley Centre, said: “The young people have got a real buzz of excitement about the whole day.

“The main aim of the event is to create a wonderful community atmosphere with everyone, no matter what their age, enjoying playing together in the beautiful surroundings of Beaumont Park.

“This event will really demonstrate the power of community spirit and we’d like to encourage everyone to come along and join the fun.”

Peter, one of the young people organising the record attempt, said: “This is a good opportunity to break a world record . . . . and you don’t normally get a chance to do that. It’s something really special and different.”
