Gulzaeb looks to make a difference

Gulzaeb Beg Ali, a model from the local area, was spotted when she was 15 years old by a make-up artist who wanted to use her for a photo shoot for a bridal magazine.

Many more modelling jobs followed for the British Pakistani, and ten years later the model has featured in a host of magazines including Asian Woman, Asiana and Fanfare. Then she was offered the chance to present her own music show on Brit Asia TV.

Now 27, Gulzaeb has hosted two successful series of The Chart Show and she has even been included in the The Times of India’s top 50 most beautiful Asian women in 2011.

The floods in Pakistan left her devastated, and she decided to put her fame to good use and put on a charity event to help people affected by the floods.

The Ilford local said: “People have lost their homes, there is a shortage of food, water and medicine and the land is ruined which is very upsetting. The thought of all the parents and children out on the street broke my heart and my immediate reaction was to think about what I could do to help.”

She then arranged the event for September 22 at Troxy, Commercial Road, Stepney.
“The response I got was amazing and I feel very privileged to be in this position,” she said. Everyone understood the importance of the event and jumped at the chance to be a part of it. This is first time I have organised anything like this and I will put my heart and soul into making it a success.”

All proceeds will go towards the Pakistan Floods Appeal run by the Disasters Emergency Committee.
