Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran was one of the star’s joining graduates at the University of Bedfordshire graduation ceremonies.
The keyboard player from the famous 80s chart toppers was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Arts for his work in the music industry as a songwriter, producer and performer.
Other people honoured by the university were film producer Katy Haber, Professor Dame Carol Black, Dr Yasmin Jetha, Music producer Peter Asher and Colonel Colin Mason CBE.
Mr Rhodes said: “I am very happy to receive this award. I did not expect it at all. My advice for graduates is that if you have a dream, stick with it and try to make it work for as long as you can. It is very gratifying when you succeed.”
The stars joined graduates from The Business School, the Health and Social Sciences Faculty, the Faculty of Creative Arts and Technologies and Science.
Professor Les Ebdon CBE DL, University Vice Chancellor said: “This is the time when we celebrate the success of our students. I feel privileged and proud to recognise their achievements. I wish them every success in the future and I congratulate every single one of them.”
