A Preston College student was given an unusually big job when she went to complete work experience at a Lancaster theatre.
22 year old Maxine Carr is the sole student studying for a two-year creative and cultural apprenticeship course at Preston College and is hoping to forge a career in theatrical costume making in the future.
She spent a few days at Lancaster’s Dukes theatre’s wardrobe department to gain some more experience. The theatre has just celebrated its 40th anniversary this month.
Maxine had the chance to help make the costumes for the Giant in the theatre’s Christmas production of Roald Dahl’s much love children’s favourite, The BFG.
Maxine, who used to be a pupil at Lostock Hall High School said: “I always did art at school but then realised I enjoyed sewing more.
“I took a fashion course but decided I preferred making costumes to high fashion. It’s more fun.
“My ambition is to make costumes for theatre or television so the experience I’ve had at The Dukes should be helpful”
The BFG, is the Duke theatre’s 40th annual Christmas show.
