£13,500 raise by Phoebe’s appeal

Three year old Phoebe Kenyon, who has a rare neurological disorder, has inspired fundraising efforts from schools, local businesses and solicitors in Preston. Phoebe suffers from Moebius Syndrome, a disorder that causes paralysis to the face and affects the cranial nerves.

Cash embezzled to pay for wedding

Accountants in Preston company Pure AV were left surprised when they discovered that one of their staff, 29 year old Kirsty Lane, had embezzled almost £200,000 from her boss to pay for her lavish wedding. Lane, who has been jailed for 20 months, was caught out when she invited her boss Peter Sutton to her expensive big day.

A couple who are about to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary have put their success down to shared interests and walks together. 83 year olds Stanley and Audrey Birkett, celebrated their marriage milestone at Rigby Hall Village, Wrea Green, surrounded by 30 friends and family.

Five rugby playing sons will be honouring the memory of their father by taking part in a sevens tournament. The Skofic brothers from Hesketh Bank, near Preston will enter as a family team in the inaugural Jonathan Skofic Sevens that will be held at the Tarleton Rugby Club.

19 year old aspiring actress Elaine Fellows has been celebrating after being chosen to entertain the athletes taking part in the London 2012 Olympics. Elaine is one of people from the National Youth Theatre who have will welcome athletes from around the world as they arrive for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Greg’s song wows millions

A Preston songwriter is celebrating victory after co-writing the winner’s song for American Idol. Greg Holden wrote the song for worker Phillip Phillips, 21, from Georgia who gave an emotional performance of the song ‘Home’. It has been released as his debut single.

Thug who broke window chased down by staff

A citizen’s arrest was made on a thug who kicked in a glass pane in the door of a Preston charity shop. He was chased and caught by staff and customers of a nearby pub who kept him locked up until the police arrived. The vandal left the Golden Cross pub, in Lancaster Road, Preston and immediately kicked the glass in the St Catherine’s Hospice shop door.
