Now I am not generally one to grumble, but I was slightly annoyed on a recent flight to Majorca, which we had pre-booked and paid to select our seats so we could all four sit together, when told at check-in that we would not be together and had been moved.
Why? They couldn’t tell us, other than it may be because a young family needed to sit together. Didn’t they know that before the flight? Had they not pre-booked their seats, at extra cost – like we had? Were we offered a refund? No, of course not.
Anyway, this was the start of our holiday. We had paid a significant amount of money for the flights: certainly not ‘Cheap’ anyway. We had also pre-booked the seats so that we could enjoy the flight together, as a family. With no explanation though, we were made to sit in different parts of the plane.
What is the point of the booking system? Why did we have to pay for the privilege of being told to move and sit apart? We went to complain, but got nowhere. Did we expect to? No. Why? Because no-one seems to care about customers anymore. Pack em in; sell them as many add-ons as possible during the online booking process; don’t look after them; try to sell them scratch cards and the like once they are on – held captive in the wrong seats away from loved ones on the plane, and then send you on your way at the other end.
BTW: We had a fabulous holiday, but no thanks to the money-grabbing airline we flew with.
Grumble over.

I’m impressed, I have to say. Truly rarely do I encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the issue is something that not sufficient folks are speaking intelligently about. I’m rather happy that I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
