Gadgets and robots for your wedding day

Technology is obviously an integral part of our everyday lives now. So it was only a matter of time before weddings became filled with gadgets and gizmos.

Couples planning their big day can now bring their invitations to life with a video message that can be seen by the guest when they hold their smartphone or tablet over the card.

Chris Hughes, managing director at Stuprint.com, one of the companies offering this product, told the BBC: “After a slow start 18 months ago, augmented reality printing is now proving popular thanks to increased smartphone ownership, 4G networks and advertising campaigns.”

And if you don’t have enough cute boys to choose from for pageboy duties, why not try a WeddingBot. This robot has been designed in America for couples to hire for their ceremony.

A wedding video in America went viral earlier in the year after the groom had a camera attached to his glasses so he could film the entire day from his view.

My favourite invention, however, has to be the Remember Ring, designed by a company called Alaska Jewellery to ensure the man never forgets his wedding anniversary.

The wedding ring is programmed to heat up on the day before the anniversary each year, getting hotter and hotter throughout the day. This gives the man a chance to organise his card and gift! Wow, imagine the grief that could save in many relationships; no more forgotten anniversaries or hastily bought limp flowers from the nearest petrol garage!

It’s interesting that this ring seems to marketed towards men. Do women never forget anniversaries or birthdays?
