Clarence Adoo, the inspirational musician, has been honoured for his services to music with an MBE from Prince Charles. Trumpet player Clarence was recognised at an event at Buckingham Palace. Clarence was a member of the North East’s professional orchestra, the Northern Sinfonia, until he was paralysed in a car accident in 1995.

Newcastle United winger Peter Lovenkrands has raised over £21,000 at a charity auction held in memory of his dad. The online raffle included a host of signed Newcastle United prizes and all the money raised went to the Alzheimer’s Society.
