Rising star on the motor racing circuit Jake Dalton is continuing to impress despite having to deal with some setbacks in the testing stage.
He suffered some mishaps including a blown engine after setting the time for the fastest lap in Silverstone and a 100 mph crash at Donnington. Luckily, the crash only created a dent in his budget and no one was injured.
17 year old Jake, who is an engineering student at Newcastle-under-Lyme College, has had strong performances in the BARC Formula Renault series despite the fact that he doesn’t have the financial ability to pay for any more unlucky incidents.
He used his wet weather skills to great effect at Rockingham when he managed to put in a good performance.
At the super-fast Thruxton in Hampshire, Jake drove fantastically and qualified third and fifth for his two races.
Jake says: “Thruxton was a much better weekend. The team did a great job and my confidence is back up now.”
Jake’s father Richard who runs one of the leading garages in Stoke-on-Trent, the Richard Dalton Garage said: “For his first year and his lack of experience Jake is impressing a lot of people. We have had some bad luck in testing and that has made rather a dent in our budget and Jake knows he has to be that bit more careful than other, better funded, drivers and that makes it a bit harder for him.
“At Rockingham he was defending like mad but at Thruxton he was superb. He is doing really well and a lot of people in the paddock are looking at his performances.”
