Swansea DVLA headquarters add 450 extra jobs

450 more jobs are to be created at the DVLA’s Swansea headquarters following the announcement that 39 of its regional offices are being axed. The Government are centralising the driver agency and they are hoping that some of their current staff who are facing redundancy will transfer to Swansea.

Car dealer expanding with 60 new jobs

One of the leading dealerships and garages in Swansea is planning on creating around 60 new jobs. The Sinclair Group is hoping to build a new Volkswagen showroom with a workshop and offices on Langdon Road next to the company’s existing Mercedes and Audi garages which were established in 2004. The Mercedes and Audi garages already employ 120 people.

Reality TV appearance for B and B owners

Help for the Homeless from garage workers

When Tom Johnston and Richard Murphy discovered a homeless Polish man camping near their work the kind pair didn’t think twice about helping him. The workers at RT Automotives garage in Swansea helped Jerzy Hoflich who was left without a home or a job when the accommodation and work he was promised in Wales fell through.

Hayley Davies full equity partner at JCP

Following recent legislation on non-solicitor partnerships, JCP Solicitors in Swansea has made its chief executive Hayley Davies a full equity partner. Mrs Davies has been working at the law firm for 20 years and initially started work there as an evening typist. She then became an accounts manager and then started as chief executive officer in 2009. She has an MBA in legal practice.

A new innovative company is offering a range of luxurious, environmentally friendly bathroom toiletries for guest houses and hotels in Swansea, the rest of Wales and beyond. The Myddfai Trading Company, which is based near Llandovery, delivers a supply of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand wash and hand cream; but rather than throwing away the packaging, the company refills them. This makes the containers last longer and helps the environment.

Swansea soldier Jay went form the salon to the frontline

A teenager has quit his job at a hairdressers in Swansea to serve on the frontline in Afghanistan. Guardsman Jay Morgan, of 1st Battalion Welsh Guards, has swapped his day job of washing and cutting hair at Brian Brown’s Hair Salon to fight for his country. 19 year old Jay will be helping to train members of the Afghan National Police (ANP) during his first tour of Helmand Province.
