For many people who use online grocery delivery trawling round the supermarket is a thing of the past. No more squeaky trollies! No more leaving all of your bags for life in the boot and only remembering when you’re at the till!
Online grocery shopping is great but if you prefer going to the supermarket Sainsbury’s are helping out with an app that allows you to scan items on your smartphone and pay using a QR code.
The new app will let customers scan the items that they are buying using the camera on their phone and use the QR code at the till without having to unload the items through the check out. It will also allow customers to collect Nectar loyalty points and redeem coupons.
It is so exciting that all of these developments are being thought up to make our lives easier. Now that we’re approaching 2013, it seems only right that we are benefiting from more technological advances, although a lot of people thought we would have some flying cars by now!
I have to say though there is still something I really enjoy about the whole supermarket experience. Maybe it’s because I’m a bit of a people watcher but I like wandering up and down each supermarket aisle thinking about what I want for my dinner. I can’t wait to use this new app though, it sounds fantastic.
