Have you always fancied travelling to Australia but can’t afford it? Don’t worry, a solution has been found.
We can now visit the sights of Melbourne, pop into its shops and cafes, walk along the river and even meet strangers, without having to step foot outside our own door, let alone get on an aeroplane.
Authorities in the City of Melbourne have come up with an ingenious way of showing off their attractions – by employing some remote controlled tourists.
The tourists walk around the city, taking in some of the best it has to offer, whilst wearing cameras and microphones on their heads.
Their footage was being streamed live for a limited period of time and can be enjoyed at http://remotecontroltourist.com/.
Viewers were invited to visit the site and give suggestions for where they wanted the remote controlled tourists to go and what they should do.
The Telegraph reported on some of the things they have been asked to do, such as freeing the lobsters in a seafood restaurant (I don’t think they actually did this one).
Visit Melbourne now has over 18 thousand followers on Twitter, so the idea is proving very popular.
The opportunities are endless; we could get remote controlled tourists to take us skydiving, wander around inside the Oscars ceremony or even climb up a mountain. Perhaps they could nose around inside the Houses of Parliament or take us up the Eiffel without us having to get out of breath. I’m quite excited about all the places I could visit.
Sounds like a great job as well, being paid to travel around exotic locations, although maybe the camera helmet would get a bit heavy after a while.
