Chelsea’s victory over West Ham United moved them 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League, and it is difficult to see anybody stopping them now.
David Luiz has been outstanding for Chelsea this season
Antonio Conte’s men have been extremely impressive this season, and it all stems back to when he changed his formation to a 3-4-3, which has completely stumped teams throughout the campaign.
Their players are bang in-form as well, with Eden Hazard creating opportunities aplenty, Diego Costa notching up 18 league goals thus far, and a big squad which means injuries and suspensions can be easily dealt with.
David Luiz, who was much-maligned when he first re-signed from Paris Saint-Germain, has been an absolute revelation at the back, and he has perhaps been the biggest surprise out of anyone in the league this season in terms of how good he has been.
It has created an unbelievable mentality at the club, and it will take a capitulation of massive proportions for them to lose their grip on the title from here.
The only team that looks like it has any slim chance of catching the Stamford Bridge side are Tottenham Hotspur.
In Harry Kane and Dele Alli, they have as good an attacking combination as any in the league, and both of them are scoring for fun this season.
They also have a great back line marshalled superbly by Toby Alderweireld, with France captain Hugo Lloris in between the sticks.
Manchester City have shown signs of resurgence of late, but they don’t enjoy the consistency that Spurs do.
Their defence looks very leaky, so it doesn’t matter how many times Sergio Aguero can score, they are likely to be let down by dodgy keeping and defending.
Arsenal are doing what they usually do towards the back end of a season as they’re choking.
Liverpool are vulnerable at the back as well, despite their fearsome offensive options in Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Phillippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana, while Manchester United don’t win enough games to force their way into the reckoning this season.
It all means that Chelsea should be able to wrap up this title fairly comfortably, with Spurs the only other viable, albeit remote, alternative.
