Love is blind with new faceless dating app

If love is blind then maybe online dating is the key to long-lasting relationships.

As long as you take part in blind dating quite literally.

A new online dating app has been launched for Apple and Android which takes away the ability to see someone’s photo in a bid to encourage genuine love affairs and shun shallow decision making.

The unique app, Twine, aims to unite people who are drawn to each other by the things they have in common and their attributes, rather than their appearance, according to the Daily Mail. Matches are created using the online daters’ Facebook profiles, taking GPS locations and interests into consideration.

Those looking for love are even given a helping hand at the dating game, with tips on conversation topics to get them engaged in conversation with their match. Only then are photos revealed to their online partners once it has been agreed to do so. It is hoped to be a more intellectual approach to dating.

Still in its infancy, the app is yet to crack the top 50 in Apple App Store’s social and dating apps, however its creator Rohit Singal told the Daily Beast it had turned out one million matches since it was launched. He said: “Every other dating app is trying to show you a photo and pick people who are good looking.”

Twine also puts a boundary on how many matches its users can obtain, steering them towards ‘quality, not quantity’. According to Mr Singal, its methods might take some getting used to. He added: “We understand this is not common in real life. It would require a change in user behaviour to accept what we’re doing.”

So far the app is proving to be more popular with females, with 16 women to every man, according to the founder. However, to keep things fair only the same amount of men and women can log on at any one time.

So if you’re looking for love, maybe a faceless way of finding a genuine soul-mate is the way to do it.
