New details about Google’s smart glasses, which have been eagerly-awaited, have been released.
The company has uploaded a YouTube video showing Google Glass in action. This includes the interface that appears in the line of sight of the wearer.

Google has also opened up the trial of the new product to “creative individuals” and developers.
Apparently the co-founder of Google, Sergey Brin, was seen recently testing the device on New York’s subway.
Google Glass was first unveiled last year as part of a demonstration at a launch event held by Google. Developers were given the chance to have early access to the device for $1,500.
People in the US are now being invited by the company to use the hashtag #ifihadglass to put forward ways that they would make use of the headset.
Google said: “We’re looking for bold, creative individuals who want to join us and be part of shaping the future of Glass.”
Using Google Glass it will be possible to take pictures from the perspective of the individual wearing the device.
“We’re still in the early stages and, while we can’t promise everything will be perfect, we can promise it will be exciting.”
The demonstration video showed how Glass can be used for taking pictures and recording video, as well as sharing content directly using email or social media networks.
Voice commands like “OK, Glass, take a picture” were used for device control.
Other Glass features appeared to be Skype-like video chats, weather reports and map directions: all appearing in a small, translucent square in the top right of the field of vision of the wearer.
It seems wearable technology is going to be a major growth area in 2013 and beyond. It will be exciting to watch all the developments unfold, but perhaps hard to keep up with it all. For someone who remembers the delight of playing with a View-Master it may prove all too much! We will have to wait and see.
