Stuff the diet!

Butter may not be bad for us after all, diet drinks may not be any better than sugary ones and venison is a healthy meat!

There is a little story in the news about red wine being bad for us again after all, but if I ignore that one I can avoid those new year diet plans this year and enjoy eating and drinking my way through the remnants of my Christmas larder without feeling guilty!

All I need now is a story telling me that studies have shown how exercise is bad for me and I’ll be perfectly happy!

Once again we are bombarded with confusing and conflicting headlines in the news about what we should and shouldn’t be eating to keep ourselves at optimum health.

If you are anything like me, you will break your year up into eating and drinking fests, broken up with spells of trying to be healthy and perhaps lose a bit of weight. It’s ridiculous when you think about it:

  • Oct/Nov – you go on a healthy diet and try to avoid alcohol for a few weeks (longer if you have the willpower!) just so you can feel justified about eating and drinking yourself into a stupor over the festive season.
  • Jan – the new year requires a healthy eating spell again to make yourself feel better before going crazy on chocolate when Easter arrives.
  • Spring – Another quick health kick is put into place before the summer so you can get that swimwear looking good before going on holiday and eating and drinking like crazy. Then we are back to the pre-Christmas health period again!

Enjoy your year!
