Was there anybody else out there lucky enough to see the supermoon this week? Unfortunately, where I live, Monday night chose to be completely overcast, meaning the rare night sky treat was totally blocked from my sight. I had my telescope ready just in case but the typical English weather meant I will have to wait until 2034 for another chance to see this stunning view. Mind you, according to reports, the view was no better in sunny Australia!
A ‘supermoon’ is when the moon travels closest to earth on its elliptical orbit during a full moon.
Unfortunately I had to make do with the many amazing pictures online from photographers lucky enough to have a good view of this rare event in our skies. When captured well, next to a building or other landmark, it actually looked as if the moon was falling out of the sky.
The big question is, did the supermoon affect your mood or the behaviour of people you know?
It has long been claimed that a full moon can has an impact on our sleep and how we feel. So with it being even closer than usual, did you notice any difference?
Dr Tobias Kaiser of the Max Plank Institute for Evolutionary Biology told AccuWeather this week: “From a scientific point of view the lunar effect on animals is obvious and absolutely uncontroversial.”
Anyone spot any werewolves?
