On Valentine’s Day Lady Gaga became the latest loved-up celeb to get engaged, so we can…
…look forward to seeing pictures of a no-doubt bizarre Gaga-style wedding hitting the cover of a certain popular UK gossip magazine in the not too distant future. Unfortunately not everyone is lucky enough to bag themselves a hunky actor, a £300k ring or access to a super-efficient ‘money-is-no-object’ wedding planner. For most of us the process of planning a wedding can be pretty intimidating. With wedding season creeping up on us, we thought we’d take a look at some of the biggest wedding trends for 2015.
Luckily for Gaga, this year it’s all about individuality. Increasingly, couples are designing their day in a way that reflects their personalities. Firstly, thanks to Princess Kate and Downton Abbey, one popular trend for this year is classic English. Think afternoon tea and garden parties, bunting, vintage lace and homemade scones. For this look, dining al fresco is ideal, but make sure you have a back-up plan in case the weather has other ideas!
At the opposite end of the spectrum, we have modern, clean and crisp – whites with bursts of bright colour. Incorporate some geometric patterns, monogrammed accessories and general sophistication for trend number two. How about a colour clash? Pick two or three shades plus brighter accents to make them pop. Got seven bridesmaids in mind? Why not have each of them in a dress that’s a different colour of the rainbow?
Finally there’s classic elegance with a twist. Combine grand romance, drama, lavishness, soft lighting and formality. Then drop in a quirky addition or two – hire a fish and chip van for a late night snack, or have a beer pong tournament as part of your reception program.
There’s a plethora of ideas out there but, if you’re getting married in 2015, remember the golden wedding rule. Be sure to design a day that’s all about you and your other half so you can relax and enjoy it!
