Dentist to cycle to Paris in aid of DEBRA

A dentist in Bournemouth is raising money to support a little boy from St Leonards by cycling from London to Paris. 44 year old Andy Thomas is aiming to raise £3,500 for DEBRA, a charity that works on behalf of people with rare genetic conditions such as Mason White. Mason suffers from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a condition that causes his skin to blister at the slightest touch.

A Bournemouth student who saw his mum’s struggle with aggressive bowel cancer, will be working as a volunteer at this year’s Race for Life in both Bournemouth and Poole. 26 year old Cameron Johnson will be volunteering with a team of other men and women who will oversee the events to make sure that they go smoothly.

Mark King from Level 42, a patron for Bournemouth’s Academy of Contemporary Music Regional cut the ribbon at the new academy. Bournemouth based swimming club the Spartans took to the water at Boscombe for a fancy dress dip on Christmas Day. The annual event saw dozens of brave souls head to the waters in a variety of fancy dress outfits including a wolf, a pirate, sailors, a unicorn, a princess, Dennis the Menace, Victorian swimmers and even some swimmers in Christmas outfits.

Sea bass seen at Mudeford Quay

Brothers Tom and Sam Farwell from Muscliff were surprised when they caught a sea bass while out crab fishing with their Granddad at Mudeford Quay. The two boys, aged eight and five, had only been fishing once before but knew they were in for a special surprise when they saw a large fish circling their line.
