Georgia Wilkins is dancing to the top

13-year-old Georgia Wilkins from Fenham is already dancing up a storm at her young age. With major titles and trophies to her name, she has high hopes of turning professional.

Georgia and her dance partner Leoni Maltby have taken the top prize at the British Juvenile Classical Sequence Championships two years in a row.

They were also runners-up in the British Junior Classical Sequence Championships.

Georgia said: “I love dancing. It is a lot of hard work but it all pays off in the end when they announce the final result.”

Leoni and Georgia have been partners since they were ten and have racked up an impressive number of trophies in just a few years.

They spend so much time together that they have become like sisters.

“We get on so well and we always support each other.” Georgia said.

Georgia dances for a minimum of five hours every weekend and has other lessons during the week.

She said: “I take my homework to dance classes and to hotels before competitions” she laughed. It’s the only way I can fit everything in. I do tell my closest friends who are very supportive though.

“They ask me what my dresses are like and how I got on in the competition. I can’t imagine doing anything else.”

When the girls turn 16 they will have the option to dance with male partners.
