Motel One construction set to start

Motel One, the German hotel operator, are forging ahead with their plans for new hotels in Newcastle, London, Manchester and Glasgow. With their fast track plans they aim to open four new hotels in quick succession.

They have already gained planning permission for a 14-storey hotel next to Manchester Piccadilly Station and are set for rapid expansions across the UK.

Construction will start early in 2013 and construction companies Vinci and Galliford Try are bidding to work on the 330-room hotel.

Several contractors are in the running for the £20m London hotel contract for the new 300-room hotel at Fenchurch Street. Among those in the running are ISG and John Sisk.

Developer Lugano Group has secured the contract for the new 222-bedroom Newcastle hotel in the city centre and contractors, including McAleer & Rushe, Vinci, GB Building and McAlpine are hoping to win the £10m building contract.

Glasgow’s Argyll Street will be home to a 374-bed hotel, bar and restaurant which will be built for around £20m. Developer Buccleuch Property has submitted a planning scheme for this property.
