The shining lights of the North East’s accountancy profession have had their achievements celebrated at an awards event in Newcastle.
Hundreds of accountants, businessmen and women were present to celebrate the achievements of accountants in Newcastle and the surrounding region at the event.
As winners were announced at the sixth Nigel Wright North East Accountancy Awards held at the Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel in Newcastle, everyone cheered loudly.
It was a great night for the winners and all those present. The after-dinner speaker was Martin Vander Weyer, the former investment banker and also columnist for The Spectator. In his speech he praised the business community of the North East for its resilience during troubling times.
There was a large and very influential judging panel for the event, which included Michael Brodie, finance director NHS Business Services Authority and vice president of CIPFA NE region; Chris McCourt, chief operating officer of the North East Chamber of Commerce, and Dinah Bennett OBE, a director of the International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise.
