With one eye on the growing use of particular technology devices, Facebook is moving with the times along with other successful businesses and is expanding accordingly.
The social networking site is working on its advertising services directly focussed on the makers of apps for tablets and smartphones, according to The Telegraph. Its own mobile phone division is developing rapidly and the firm is keen to make the most of the large number of advertisers using their app ads.
Facebook’s mobile app ads enable businesses to advertise their own apps to a whopping audience of 1.15billion. New developments to this tool will aim to increase the time in which users are on these third-party apps.
Revealing Facebook’s public data for the first time about this particular section of the firm, director of platform monetisation Deb Liu said numbers of apps installed onto the site by consumers so far this year have reached north of 145million.
Advertisers using its app ads in the second quarter was almost 8,500 and, while it comes nowhere near the one million advertisers on file, Facebook believes that app experts offer a huge potential customer base for the social media giant to target. As the market has expanded, apps made for smartphones, largely the iPhone by Appl e and Androids by Google, have become lost in a sea of many competing creations from across the globe.
It is claimed the new and improved app ads for Facebook will allow further promotion within an app, such as a musician on Spotify or flights on a travel-focussed app. It will be a step forward from its current app ads, which do not persuade repeat visits to an app.
With an increase in proceeds to its mobile advertising in recent months, Facebook’s shares have doubled since July already.
