If you’ve ever had that conversation about tattoos: what will they look like when I am older, one couple have answered that question for you.
The world’s most tattooed senior citizens – a couple from Florida – featured in the news this week to show people how body art can look great whatever your age.
The couple, Charlotte Guttenberg, 67, and Chuck Helmke, 75, actually met in a tattoo parlour. Charlotte takes the title of Most tattooed senior citizen (female) in the Guinness World Records 2017, while Chuck takes the title of Most tattooed male senior citizen.
Charlotte’s body is 91.5% covered in tattoos while Chuck has 93.75% coverage. Both say they still plan to get more tattoos!
Charlotte actually only began her tattoo obsession ten years ago, following the death of her husband. He had always been opposed to body art.
She says: “I got my first tattoo when I was 58 years old and I gave it to myself as a birthday gift.”
Charlotte went on to have a full tattoo bodysuit. She explains: “For us it was about the bigger picture. When you think of people that get tattoos, sometimes people will get one tattoo, or they’ll get two or three, they’re fans. But then there are people who are collectors, just as there are other types of collectors – people that collect art and hang it on their walls.”
The obvious question is: where is it most painful to be tattooed?
Chuck says: “The head is one of the more painful places you can be tattooed.”
Personally, I think I’ll stick to the child tattoos you apply with a wet flannel and remove in the shower!
