Have you succumbed to the hot tub craze sweeping across our nation?
Like the appearance of large trampolines in back gardens everywhere, hot tubs are rapidly becoming a ‘must-have’ item for many households.
The craze was confirmed this week by the announcement that two UK supermarkets are now selling the oversized communal bath tubs for a budget price.
For under £400, you can get everything you need for a hot tub for four…albeit a portable/inflatable version.
So what’s the attraction? The hot tub emits an image of luxury and opulence – often seen in films such as James Bone containing glamorous occupants sipping champagne.
We all feel like a bit of opulence in our lives don’t we? At the end of a hard working day or week, it’s nice to have a treat. With sugar and alcohol continuously being outlawed as terribly bad for us, people are turning to other options to give themselves a well-earned reward.
I must admit, personally I would rather have my bath in private than share it with others – even my nearest and dearest – but I can see why this is a relaxing indulgence that would work for some.
Also, where do people put these hot tubs? Presumably you have got to pop it up in the garden on a hot evening – and share your experience with the neighbours and the local insect life – or have a slightly more private shed/outbuilding.
