Newcastle accountants Tait Walker have added three new members to their tax department, including two tax apprentices.
Clair Williams, an experienced tax manager, will now manage the employment tax advisory department and take charge of the design and implementation of tax planning opportunities.
Clair has over 11 years experience in the accounting industry and is joining from KPMG where she was a tax manager.
She said: “I’m delighted to have joined the team at Tait Walker – I am particularly impressed with their approach to staff and the close client relationships they have developed.
“I’m working on some exciting new projects, assisting new businesses to apply for employer NIC holidays allowing them to claim back up to £50k of employer National Insurance contributions paid to HMRC and I am reviewing the whole-life costs and recommending efficient methods to manage the costs of company car fleets for a number of existing clients.”
The two tax apprentices, Tania Ormston, 19, and Rachael Matthewson, 18, are joining the firm straight from sixth form.
Tania said: “I have always wanted to work for an accountancy firm so when I heard about the apprenticeship vacancy I applied immediately.
“I was hopeful that I’d succeed but knew competition would be high. Now I’m doing what I’ve always wanted to do for a really successful business with a good reputation, I’m excited about what the future may hold for me.”
Rachael said: “I know that Tait Walker support staff development so I am really happy to be working for them.
“I’m getting experience not only in tax return procedures but I’m also learning what it’s like to work as part of a large team.”
Tait Walker has three branches in Newcastle, Stockton and Morpeth and employs over 130 staff. The company provides comprehensive taxation services and has recently been awarded the Accounting and Finance Employer of the Year at the 2012 Accounting and Finance Awards.
